2011 Nike MAG: The Full Story.

Sneaker enthusiasts and fans of the 1989 movie Back to the Future II had to wait almost 23 years for their Nike MAG to drop. After all the video and event hype, an extensive behind the scenes video is presented here. Several of the personalities involved in the whole project go on the record from both Nike and Back to the Future’s teams including Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker. The Nike MAG has now obviously been made available for collectors through eBay but this video hopefully answers any questions many might have regarding the process behind the greatest shoes never made.

Back in May, Nuno and I headed out to England to shoot photos and film the Nike Pool jam. I had no idea what to expect when I was heading there, but the Nike Pool jam ended up being one of the best contest I have ever been to... not only from a riding standpoint, but also the vibe was amazing, everyone was having so much fun, the ramps were amazing, the free food, free beer... I could go on... Aside from the whole weekend being so much fun, the building and the ramps were amazing for filming. Great colors, interesting architecture, the two floors with windows looking down at the ramps. I was a kid in a candy store. This edit is more of a reflection of the weekend. A montage of a bunch of random stuff. I missed some bangers, filmed lots of random stuff and had a really fun time putting it all together... Enjoy!

"This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.
Spain´s highest mountain @(3715m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories."

"The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I am still not 100% used to carrying around so much gear required for time-lapse movies."

"A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April (bit.ly/g3tsDW) and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes."

"Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32."

Nike Sportswear Field Trainer.

Nike's Field Trainer is one of those oddities cast into the line to make use of existing lasts and tooling. The big difference here is that the shoe's actually pretty good. Of course, this one's not going to get a zillion dollar marketing spend hurled at it, but the by-product is a nice distillation of football (just in case any of our American brethren are reading, we're talking soccer here) training shoes and classic athletic style. We don't even know 100% that it's a football model either — it just has that look to it, and the gum outsole seems to reiterate that. Recently, we were infatuated with the Lunar Gato - a piece of pure performance that seemed geared towards five-a-side play.

This is a far simpler proposition, but football's in Nike's DNA: the 'Nike' boot in 1971 was one of their first releases and it looked like it could perform in both national takes on the game. Since then it’s been the breeding ground for some of the most advanced product the company produces. The Field trainer, however, is significantly more sedate.

The grooved midsole and perforated panel (which, twinned with suede, evokes happy memories of Zoom FCs — one of the most underrated post-millennial shoes from Nike) keeps the Field Trainer appealing. It's no-frills, but we'll take this slimmer shape over some of the hastily welded three-in-one runner creations that are currently sharing shelf space with this model. Will this get retroed in a decade for an audience baying for its return on whatever supersedes WordPress and Twitter? No. But it's a very immediate, hype-free piece of footwear at a decent price, which is something that we’re keen to encourage.

Thomas Noesner, our DoP, was in New York for a shoot of the new Mercedes R-Class. Right after the job, he took his camera and strolled through the busting streets of „The City“. While screening the pictures of a drummer in the tube station, I had the idea of creating a „remix“ of the recorded drum sequence to use it as a soundtrack for the film. That´s when our sounddesigner Toussaint came into play... We composed a track around the drum beat of this guy. Watch and listen to the beat of New York!

A Conversation with Bobby Hundreds.

Bobby Hundreds is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand The Hundreds. Bobby grew up in Southern California’s skate, snow and punk scenes, and attributes much of The Hundreds’ story and success to his background in these subcultures. His initial launch into the action sports world was a stint at Transworld Media, where he was part of the original team that put together the now-defunct Stance Magazine. The Hundreds is stocked through countless retailers internationally, including its four flagship locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Santa Monica.

The Hundreds growth… is both organic and deliberate. We follow the heart of the brand, we listen very closely to it’s needs and sensibilities, as if it were a child’s future. To some, we’re too conservative and perhaps overly protective, but the idea is long-term growth instead of overnight blowout. You want your daughter to go to college and build a career, right? You don’t want to throw some clear heels on her and twirl her on the pole.

But our growth is all very strategic and driven by a logical trajectory. That, and the unbending adoration of teenage boys around the world.

California culture is like none other because… it’s every culture. The diversity across ethnic demographics, socioeconomics, sexuality, politics and religion all funnel into a spectrum of captivating subcultures. This is the birthplace of skateboarding, streetwear and we have our own interpretation of hip-hop and punk. It’s hard to grow up here and not be open-minded and exposed to cultural inspiration. Plus, California girls… dude… must be something in the avocados.

The business side of The Hundreds… is far undervalued and under-appreciated. That’s primarily Ben’s territory, and it’s arguably the hulking vehicle of our success. The media and public are drawn to the brand for the creative facet, but what allows that to exist is a smart business mind and diligent work ethic. Of course, it’s much “cooler” in kids’ eyes to talk about a crazy snap-back cap with a purple propeller on it over a calculated approach to distribution, so it’s often ignored. But if you want to succeed in this game, it takes more than just rad art, branding and a logo that gets you hassled at airport security. It’s so easy to make noise, but try writing a symphony.

Over the past few years, retail has become… a focus of The Hundreds. Yes, our own flagship stores are important because they are a pure, unfiltered presentation of the brand. It’s like being able to go watch your favorite band play at a concert versus listening to a DJ play it in a club or on the radio or in a YouTube remix with a Rebecca Black hook. It’s the experience and a true representation of The Hundreds lifestyle. It all goes back to reinforcing our brand.

Running an increasing large operation while trying to be a family man… is a formidable task. I haven’t figured it out yet, but I’m working towards it. I try to make a clear distinction between work and life, but that’s complicated when they feed off each other. The Hundreds is structured as a personally-themed project. We are the world’s first social merchandising company, meaning that the people are the brand, not the product. Simply put, it’s not business, it’s personal.

Owning a camera… is so stereotypical of me, but I swear it’s not just because I’m Asian. I took an interest in photography when I was 14. My dad had an old film camera lying around and my friend Zach (Cordner) was already an avid photographer at the time. Zach encouraged me to bring it out and taught me how to shoot our friends when we’d go out skating or snowboarding, to live local punk shows, or whatever trouble we got into as kids. I still don’t really consider myself a photographer but I’ve had my camera with me almost every day for the past 2 decades of my life. I’ve never taken a class, I know I’ve completely bastardized all rules of lighting and composition, but that’s okay – at this point it’s my own unique retarded style. It’s also nice to have documented all these incredible moments in my life, both personal milestones and cultural happenings. Who else has photos of themselves getting pepper sprayed by cops in riot gear after a Descendents show?

It’s very cool to see so many young people obsessed with photography nowadays, whether its because of Tumblr or the accessibility of digital SLRs and Photoshop. It was really uncommon to be a photographer when I was growing up, I knew the 10 or 11 kids in my town who were into it and we all pushed each other. It was an expensive habit, the cost of film and developing, and the learning curve was painstaking but I’ve always said that one of the most rewarding hobbies you can take on is photography because it heightens your perspective of your environment and everyday life. Another rewarding hobby is BEING AWESOME. I’ve been doing it since I was 8.

Reaching out to our clientele… is the crux of our brand. The Hundreds was imagined as a response to the closed-off nature of traditional Japanese-inspired streetwear brands. We wanted to break that exclusive mentality wide-open and share this fascinating culture with anyone willing to participate. As I mentioned before, The Hundreds is the world’s first social merchandising company, in that the customer is ultimately buying a substantive story, a perspective, a relationship with the people behind the brand. It really doesn’t matter what we make because the product is just a conduit for this relationship. Ben and I have never considered ourselves above our customer because at the end of the day we are still fans just like anyone else. Maybe that doesn’t make us the coolest company out there, because we’ve positioned ourselves as regular, accessible figures, not some cool guys. But it’s the most fulfilling and rewarding position to be in. You die with 10,000 cool points, I die with 10,000 friends.

The Hundreds Santa Monica… is our proudest feat to date and a culmination of our brand to this point. I guess it’s the kickoff of the next chapter for The Hundreds, a rebirth – that’s the explanation for all the post-apocalyptic themes in the lead-up videos. We’ve been looking to open a second location in Los Angeles for a couple years. L.A.’s a funny retail platform, especially for a brand and business like ours, but we knew we wanted to plant on the West side of the city. This space presented itself and voila. You can see the ocean from the storefront and Kim Basinger stopped by the shop yesterday. How can you beat that?

Grassy Knolls & Seaside Strolls. The Urban Industry Spring Look Book marches from Sussex countryside to Sussex seaside taking in the river plains and marshes of 1066 country. William the Conquerer landed his fleet on these beaches and used the flat terrain of the marshes to march on Battle and take on Harold's army.
We start off with some spring looks incorporating jackets and sweats and as we move out of the woodland, to river plain, to beach the looks become more summery. We end the shoot on the aptly named 'Normans Bay.

NEW BALANCE PUB PACK OFFICIAL LAUNCH.

After what has seemed like months of delay, the New Balance Pub Pack finally saw it's official launch this past Thursday, at the appropriate location of the Red Lion pub in London's East End. The pack itself features three styles of the New Balance 576, each themed around a different traditional British boozer: The Red Lion, The Kings Head and The Royal Oak. Each shoe is constructed from 'pub sofa style' leathers in red, blue and brown, and features decorative interiors themed around the sorts of fabric patterns you're likely to find on the curtains and carpets of your nearest public house. They are completed with pint glass 'ring marks' on the insole and an embroidered Union Jack on the heel, just in case you weren't too sure what the pack represents. Our friends at The Daily Street were there to cover the event, stuff themselves with all manner of pork goods (pies AND scratchings) and soak up all the free booze. Fortunately for us they remained sober enough to take a few snaps so we could get a piece of the action, which you can check out below.

The entire New Balance Pub Pack is available now in very limited numbers, along with plenty other New Balance styles if these aren't quite for you. Each pair comes packages with it's own New Balance beer mat and bar towel, making this one serious collectors item. Nike Sportswear “Destroyer” New York Varsity Jacket

It’s a Destroyer. And it’ll obliterate all your preconceptions about letterman’s jackets. But what’s in a name? Back in ’06, Nike designers began a mission to re-craft iconic sports apparel in the most technical materials they could find. The ubiquitous American varsity jacket was an obvious choice for the experiment that would become Nike Sportswear. Raiding the All Conditions Gear (ACG) innovation cache, they found fabrics, laminates and bonding methods that could brave nasty weather but still look fresh. The first letterman’s jacket was for an imaginary team called the Dunk High Destroyers. Limited numbers were produced. The next version got even more technical, but the Destroyer name stuck. The laser-cut, waterproof, bonded zipper became a signature feature of those early hybrids, encapsulating what you often couldn’t see on the products: futuristic functionality that never detracts from a timeless aesthetic.

Today saw the official unveiling of the Hermès x Leica M7 Camera. Aside from the previously seen orange version, another calfskin choice includes an “etoupe” and chrome combination as well. The limited edition cameras will be limited to 100 pieces per color with sequential numbering ranging from 001/200 to 200/200.

Each camera body comes paired with a “Leica SUMMILUX-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. wide-angle lens, a matching classic round lens hood, a LEICAVIT M rapid winder and a real leather carrying strap matched to the colour of the camera, all delivered in a linen-covered, silk-lined box.” Small subtle color changes also mark the overall design for the camera which will be released next month in the United Kingdom at select Leica dealers and at the Leica Store Mayfair. The Freestylers need no introduction and neither does their all time classic 'Ruffneck'. This Anthem has been re-recorded and hurtled into the future by notorious electronic punks Ctrl Z and has been one of the biggest tunes in the sets of the likes of Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Freq Nasty, Deekline and of course the 'Stylers for the past year!

Every time these two acts have met in the past, the results have been devastating. The Ctrl Z remix of The Freestylers & Pendulum track ‘Security’ was one of the highlights of 2007 and their album collab ‘Turn to Dust’ was rock breaks at its very best, so it was natural that the Stylers would turn to the Z to put their take on what is considered by many as the best Freestylers track ever!

This track was the subject of a Computer Music magazine masterclass and when you hear it you’ll see why. Blending the old with the new, Ctrl Z have managed to keep the ‘rough around the edges’ vibe of the Freestylers original, while stamping their monstrous bassline and synth sounds all over it.

Now it’s finally getting the release it deserves with remixes to blow your socks off including; the seemingly omnipresent High Rankin, best selling dubsteppers Excision & Datsik, bassline remix kings Pirate Soundsystem and the fast rising crack house wunderkid Rack n Ruin!

Completing the TRAX STI is a sleigh to be pulled behind the car, designed to hold four snowboarders, their snowboards, and all their gear. The sleigh’s body is 100 percent custom designed and constructed of hand-laid fiberglass—though the sleigh is not seen in this teaser video, look for it in future videos next year. Altogether, this is one car ready for backcountry access and snowboarding.

The guys in the labs at OBEY HQ have been working on an exclusive project with glow in the dark inks. The final ink is so special because it will glow for up to four hours with just a few minutes of exposure to either natural light or artificial light. These tees not only glow for hours but also emit a much stronger glow than you would see from a normal glow tee that you may have seen in the past. The tees look like they have been printed with regular white ink during day light but when you turn off the lights they either glow florescent green or florescent blue depending on the design chosen.

Bridging the gap between US gangsta rap and the London grime scene, (but delivered without any of the pretentiousness) MC’s Orifice Vulgatron, Metropolis, DagNabbit and DJ Nonames, collectively known as Foreign Beggars, release their highly anticipated third album, United Colours of Beggatron.

The whole album is on an electronic tip, with dubstep, drum & bass and electro all getting a nod. Maybe that is not everyone’s idea of hip hop, but don’t think every track on here is a rowdy, grimey assault on the eardrums. There are some lovely beats, like the posse cut, “Keep It Comin‘” - featuring Jehst, Kyza and Syntax - and the opening track, “Move Higher“, featuring the dulcet tones of Audra Nishita.

All round, a pretty damn good album...definitely one of the highlights of the year. Be sure to cop yourself a copy now! Out to Sam for sending my copy through ahead of release.

So today I had a parcel arrive, turned out it was from my good friend David over at Vannen Watches. I proceeded to open the package and found that they'd sent me one of their super Limited Edition Halloween watches (shown above), shipped all the way to me from across the pond in California, USA! Read through as we give you a little more info and insight into this great Halloween inspired creation!

Firstly, a little about the artist behind artwork and design! Dirty Donny (poster artist/fine artist/gearhead extraordinaire) was selected to create this extremely exclusive holiday watch because of his repertoire of devious little monsters, ghouls and goblins. Donny's characters and illustrations are notorious for their incredible colour and personality. His creatures are sometimes playful-yet-spooky while others are just so wild and mischievous they almost jump off the page and bite you in the face!

Donny's Haloween exclusive is a black and purple watch with flying bats all along the straps and a warped, twisted, ghoulish, neon face on the dial. This exclusive watch is limited to 150 pieces worldwide, but because they loved the art so much, Vannen decided to throw in a little extra treat and make another super-limited variant known as the "Toxic Chase" colourway. The Toxic Chase watches are so extremely limited that only 50 exist in the entire world!

Vannen's Halloween exclusive is packaged in an orange Trick-or-Treat bag filled with goodies. And to make things even more fun, each watch is blind-sealed within its bag, which means you don't know which version of the watch you'll recieve until it arrives which I think is a nice touch. You may get the standard black and purple Halloween exclusive (100 available) or get a surprise and receive the super-limited edition yellow Toxic Chase (50 available) version!

I have no doubt that Vannen are really beginning to emerge into an extremely standout watch company. Every little detail is covered with these guys, from choice artist collaborations, great packaging and brand ethos all the way down to product presentation and photography. High Order! X Okay Alrite Interview...

So here's this months interview and boy have we got a good one for you guys this time round. I peeped this brand a little while off and they instantly stood out for me over a lot of the other brands out there. Okay Alrite are a Philly based brand that are making waves in the streetwear scene despite only being around since the middle of this year!

Their strong T-shirt prints make quite an impact, with a lot of font and slogan based designs being used as a fairly simple yet very effective approach at making themselves known to the world. High Order! caught up with Okay Alrite founder Chris Semick to find a little more about himself & his up and coming brand...

HO: So first off ‘Okay Alrite’, what's the story behind the name? where did it come from?

OA: The whole aesthetic behind Okay Alrite has a deep meaning that is expressed through simple and classic designs based on my experiences, negative or positive. As far as the name itself, I really wanted something that I felt like I would never outgrow and out of a long list of names for whatever reason it just stuck.

HO: What’s your background? And can you say that it’s contributed to what your doing today with Okay Alrite?

OA: I was born in Long Island, NY, and was lucky enough to live up and down the east coast while growing up, and somehow landed in New Jersey with my family. I spent everyday of High school on a skateboard, this landed me in the back of a few cop cars and it would also explain why I never did all that good when it came to catching up on homework and studying. I was your typical kid, until I reached an age where the only thing I knew for sure was what I did not want to become. I can't be around people with no vision or people that lack ambition, that is my greatest fear. So as soon as I realized this everything started taking off and I have not stopped pushing myself since. Everything that I encounter most definitely contributes to Okay Alrite, intentionally or unintentionally.

HO: How and when did the brand first start off?

OA: Okay Alrite has been in the works for a few months now, I try to keep everything in house. We held our launch party June 5th of 2009. So, officially we have been around for roughly 3 months. We have a very long way to go.

HO: What’s the meaning behind Okay Alrite? Does it follow a certain ethos?

OA: Okay Alrite embodies something that the vast majority of clothing lines completely miss. It is a simple dedication to being completely honest in what we embody and very upfront with the message we are trying to put out. We are not trying to change the world with a design on a t-shirt, thats just not going to happen. Live in the moment, work hard, love what you are doing, never settle- no matter what, in the end it's going to pay off. On a personal level and professional level, it's all going to pay off.

Follow your heart to the fullest and keep doing your thing, stay true.

HO: Your first collection ‘Crucial Times’ was release earlier this year, what were you hoping to achieve with this first range? And do you feel you accomplished it?

OA: As proud and as I much as I love the first collection, I feel that the Crucial Times collection was a soft opening for this brand, it is us introducing ourselves to the world. We are no doubt still pushing and selling the collection as if it came out yesterday, but I feel like it does us no justice as far as what we are truly capable of. The response for the collection has been unreal. It means the world. Every comment made about Okay Alrite sticks with me, this brand is an extension of myself.

HO: Your stickers are obviously a cheeky nod at a certain well known streetwear brand! What other brands do you follow and feel your inspired by?

OA: I'm inspired by literally everything, I feel like if you are inspired by what other brands are designing you will end up stuck. I'm inspired by brands because of their work ethic, not so much the design aspect. I'm really drawn to the whole build something out of nothing mentality.

To name a few people who inspire me I have to say Supreme’s founder James Jebbia, Rob Crustofaro and Arnaud Delecolle from Alife, and Shaun Stussy. All these dudes are pioneers as far as this culture goes and I am totally moved by what they have created. I'm just trying to pay my dues and bring heat to the game for the love of doing it, just like they did/do.

HO: So when will we see a new range being released? And what can we expect to see?

OA: As of right now we have every intention of releasing our second collection in November. I'm not rushing anything, mistakes are crazy expensive in this industry and times are not easy right now. Product wise you will see hats, hoodies, and tee's. The over all objective is to become a brand that people can count on for quality, conceptualism, and consistency and we are really stressing it in this collection. Everything is a step up this time around and that is what it's all about progression.

As far as the presentation we are working with a local photographer and web designer, both are really big supporters of the brand and are most definitely going to bring the collection to a whole new level.

HO: Where do you hope to take Okay Alrite in the future? What do you have lined up? Collaborations, Events etc?

OA: I'm just following my heart and playing it out to the fullest. I just wanna get to a level where all of our all facets make sense (distribution, production and marketing). At this moment I am focused on paying our dues. I'm not interested in being the flavor of the month, we have an endless amount of work a head of us and a lot of people to meet and build relationships with. I'm willing and able to climb whatever mountain is ahead of us. Eventually, I'd like to create something so extraordinary and just give back as much as I can. If you wanna own the building, you have to start by moping the floor. As far as events and collaborations go we always have something going on in Philadelphia. But besides that we have a pop-up shop tour in the winter that should keep us kinda busy, I can't disclose too much right now...

Nike Sportswear X Benedict Radcliffe - 3.5-Meter Air Max 1 Wire Frame Sculpture.

Benedict Radcliffe gave a talk a few weeks ago down at the Nike 1948 Store on his inspirations and some of his previous works including a wire frame Toyota Corolla and wireframe Lambourgini He mentioned at the time that he was working on a giant wire frame Nike Air Max 1 and its looks like they've now got it in at the Nike space. Looks like Dizzie turned up to give it his approval..

Having worked in interior and furniture design gave U.K. artist/designer Benedict Radcliffe an appreciation on the mechanic of objects. His newest work just debuted at Nike Sportswear 1948 space in London recently as part of the Nike Sportswear X Dizzee Rascal - Air Max 90 Launch. Featuring a 3.5-meter, or 11.4-foot long wire frame mock-up of the Air Max 1, constructed by soldering and bending several galvanized aluminum pipes. The produced piece was then painted in Varsity Blue colorway. The Benedict Radcliffe 3.5-meter Air Max 1 Wire Frame Sculpture is current on Nike Sportswear 1948.

Eyedea & Abilities 'By The Throat' 2009 (Rhymesayers)

So after a five year break exploring new sounds and building their personal repertoires, the dynamic DJ/MC duo of Eyedea (Mike Averill) & Abilities (Gregory Keltgen) return with a strong follow up to their 2004 critically acclaimed album E&A. By The Throat is their first album five years and that time has certainly matured and refined these two and their music alike.

Abilities uses sounds ranging from rock'n'roll guitars to his turntable work, that he's more widely known for. This album is their rawest collection of songs to date, heavy feedback and guitar draped beats, sounds that would normally be more at home on a rock/indie album. However despite this, it really does work well with Eyedea's lyrics, which are pretty much as varied as ever before. Heavy rifts and melodic songwriting are carefully balanced with a good dose of turntable wizardry from Abilities.

In addition to rhyming about loss and addiction, topics as esoteric as neuroscience and quantum physics are addressed. The slight abstract nature of this album is also very apparent in the album cover and artwork completed by artist, Michael Gaughan.

By The Throat holds no prisoners and advances far beyond Eyedea & Abilities battle tested history (winners of HBO Blaze Battle, Rocksteady, Scribble Jam and the DMC's). The end result is leaps and bounds beyond what Eyedea is perhaps best known for, his prowness as a battle rapper and is, in terms of an album, a million miles from previously released E&A.

So to conclude, they've mostly left behind the aggressive, battle-centric lyrics and turntablism that were present on E&A in favour of a more indie rock/electronic type sound this time round. I'm sure die hard Eyedea & Abilities fans may be shocked at the apparent change of tone and style of their most recent release, but music and artists change right? Music is a constant evolution of trends, styles and sounds. This one is a welcome change for sure, bringing something fresh forward in what has otherwise been a fairly average and uneventful year of music. They've dared to take a different path and in my eyes, this is certainly one strong return album they've managed to pull off.

The video is a great example of what the guys are all about – they love having fun, but when they drop their tracks, they show their serious talent.

Foreign Beggars have finished recording their new album "United Colours Of Beggatron" due for release early October 2009. Featuring production from Noisia, Dagnabbit, Ghosttown, DJ 2tall, King Knut and Rednaz plus appearances from Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Dubbledge, Jehst, Kashmere, Dr Syntax, MC Badness, Devlin, Audra Nishita, and Ben Sharpa this is a truly international genre crossing monster of a release.

They're soon to shoot the video for the lead single Contact (with D'N'B stallwarts Noisia on production) with Tony Truand (who shot the Hit That Gash!! video). 'Contact' was recorded at Noisia's studio on Groningen as part of a series of collaborations including this...

There is also a remix album in the works, so far Noisia, Machine Drum, Onra, Goth Trad, Gifted and Blessed, Floating Points, Bar 9, Om Unit, Paul Pre, and Ranking Records are lined up. Look out for the new Beggars live set featuring some new tracks from the album at Glastonbury Festival Bassline Circus (on the sunday) and also at Secret Garden Party.

High Order! X Fourcast Interview...

We're always on the lookout for new up and coming brands here at High Order! and this week we've got a small interview with Will Hardison from BMX brand, Fourcast.

Will took the time out to answer a few of our questions to give you a little insight into the background of both himself and his recently launched brand....

HO: So Will, tell us a little about yourself and your background...

WH: I've actually been into sneakers/fashion for a LONG time. I was online back before Niketalk. I know all the guys who started Niketalk, Crooked Tongues guys, Jersey Joe, RetroKid, etc. etc. the list goes on. My handle back in the day was MClilbit, I ran a website www.theshoecenter.com and sold rare samples of Air Jordans. My first goal was to launch a footwear line, but figured that was too much of an investment, so I'll start slower with apparel and hopefully break into footwear one of these days.

HO: So what's the idea behind your new brand Fourcast?

WH: The fourcast brand is an apparel line focused on lifestyle, but with a different avenue. Instead of going out and finding skateboarders, we decided to focus on the BMX community. It's actually a great thing for us because there are much fewer people playing in that market, everyone is still so focused on Skateboarding.

HO: So you have some Fourcast team riders at the moment, right?

WH: Yeah, we have two BMX riders on the team. One is Marcus Tooker, who is currently in 3rd place in the Dew Tour in the park division. The other rider is Dan Foley, a young kid with a ton of talent. Foley is more of a lets go ride and film guy, he doesn't compete.

HO: So what's next on the agenda with Fourcast?

WH: For now we've got a line of shirts and hats, but in the near future we plan to release jeans, belts, and more custom clothing items. Down the road, we'd love to branch off into a footwear line.

HO: Lastly, you've mentioned about another website you've recently launched, tell us a little more about this.

WH: I've just launched www.willhardison.com which is a blog about starting fourcast. I know so many kids out there who want their own brand or line, and I think to show the behind the scenes and the day-to-day trials and tribulations of spreading the word, calling stores, finding manufactures makes for an interesting take on a blog.
