I went to Washington DC two weeks ago. My good friend Dafna (who runs the excellent website)and i went around U Steet on friday night. DC is a small city so U street is really where all the locals go to on a Friday night. It is huge and the types of places vary immensely. I knew that it was the place for me when i saw a couple playing along to the instrumental version of Big Papa by Notorious B.I.G. The husband was playing the violin and the wife a tambourine. To be honest she was kind of annoying but still you dont get that everyday.
Back to this post I got to see the original Obama hope street art sign. Done by Shepard Fairey. It's slightly covered up now, the symbol is so ubiquitous that it doesn't even matter. I went to the Stussy, Commonwealth and Major stores (all excellent) and met the guys that run each store. The most important thing about Dc is the vibrant street art that you see everywhere. And here are a short collection of the best ones.

How does one top a celebration 40 years in the making? If you're Diane von Furstenberg, the challenge is far from a daunting one. In fact, the answer was as clear jimmy choo outlet as black and white, literally.Though the bright designer did not avoid color entirely, she made a bold, graphic decision to feature said black and white in varying patterns and textures.
