The Dark Arts Review #15

Guess who's back?
I hate Matthew McConaughey. The man has rested on his laurels (actually his shirtless torso) for so long that I don’t even remember him being in a good movie. Tropic Thunder was an anomaly. Seriously he was supposed to be the Ed Norton/ Christian Bale of his generation instead he is constantly making horrible romantic comedies with actresses. Normally I wouldn’t care, but he has made 6 horrible films in a row. Even bankers don’t get that sort of leeway.

Either way I was watching the classic Dazed and Confused and he is actually good in it. Seriously if you haven’t seen it, you are missing out. It is easily one of the best coming of age films of all time. Directed by Richard Linklater, who went on to direct School of Rock, it tells the story of the last day of High School in 1976 Texas. This isn’t your typical seniors trying to get laid, this is the story of the others, Juniors taking responsibility, kids learning about growing up and the dumb pranks that fall in between.
